The grand finale of the Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled for 19 November 2023 where the two best teams will compete for ultimate glory. In the previous edition hosted by India in 2011, the home team emerged victorious, making history by becoming the first team to win the cup as hosts.

Group Stage:

  • Each team will play seven matches during the group stage.
  • The top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.

Knockout Stage:

  • The knockout stage includes four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and a final.
  • The winner of the final match will be crowned the world champion.

Tie-breaker rules:

In case of a tie in any group stage or knockout stage match, the following tie-breaker rules will be used in order:

  • Net run rate (NRR)
  • Head-to-head result
  • Most number of wins
  • The fewest number of defeats
  • Highest total runs scored in the tournament
  • Most wickets were taken in the tournament
  • Fair play points

Venues:

  • The tournament will take place in 10 different venues across India.
  • Each venue will host multiple matches.

Schedule:

ICC World Cup 2023 Teams:

The upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 will have 10 teams participating. Team India automatically qualified as the host, while the other teams had to earn their spots through various routes. The main route was the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League tournament.

Apart from India, the top seven teams from the Super League secured their places in the ICC World Cup 2023. The remaining five teams, along with five Associate teams, will compete in an ICC World Cup 2023 qualifier in Zimbabwe for the last two spots.

Currently, India, New Zealand, England, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, and Afghanistan have qualified for the tournament.

The teams playing in the qualifier for the remaining two spots are West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, The Netherlands, Scotland, Oman, Nepal, USA, UAE, and Ireland.
